Robert Yeoman on the Visual Language of Film

One of my favorite channels is Cooke Optics TV. Featuring industry professionals sharing their knowledge and experience.

Different programs and videos will often need different styles.  Check out Robert Yeoman's thoughts on working on different films.

A bit of Inspiration from Devin Supertramp

Filmed on Vancouver Island. I've been following Devin's work for years. This is some of his earliest work on a small, relatively inexpensive DSLR camera.

Homework

Capture 3-5 shots of what "spring" means to you. (or as many as you want)

- Use your camera, phone camera, tablet or iPad ... whatever

- Take your time and get creative

- Have fun and stay safe

Hold shots for around 10 seconds

- this gives the editor "handles" for transitions

Send the shots to me and I'll edit them into a video. So even though we are separate, we will all still create a project together.

- You can use Dropbox or whatever file transfer site is familiar to you

- One of the simplest and my favorite is "we transfer" (no registration, totally free)
